Unnative
A downloadable tool for Linux
Unnative
Run your Windows games on Linux — no Steam required.
Unnative is a lightweight, open Proton-GE launcher. Point it at a .exe, pick a Proton version, hit Play. That's it.
Features
- No Steam needed - runs any Windows .exe through Proton-GE directly
- Automatic Proton-GE management - fetches and installs the latest release for your CPU architecture, right from the app
- Drag & drop - drop a game's executable onto the list (or onto Unnative's icon anywhere on your desktop) and it's added automatically
- Managed game library - optionally copy a game's full folder into Unnative's own storage so you never lose it to an accidental delete or move
- Per-game settings - launch options, resolution, fullscreen/windowed, and your own Proton version per game
- Performance tweaks built in - sync method (fsync/esync), CPU core limiting, shader caching, and a one-click low-end preset for older/weaker hardware
- Safety Mode - optional Firejail sandboxing per game: no internet access, isolated filesystem
- Playtime tracking - see how much time you've sunk into each game
Requirements
- Linux
- Python 3
- Optional: gamescope (for resolution/fullscreen forcing), firejail (for Safety Mode), mangohud (for the performance overlay)
| File Format: | ELF 64-bit Linux Executable |
Getting started
- Launch the built binary from release/Unnative
- Hit + to add a game, or just drag an .exe onto the window
- Install a Proton-GE version from the # button if you don't have one yet
- Play your Game
- Remember that Safety mode still cant ensure 100% Safety.
Status
Unnative is early and actively being built. Expect rough edges. Bug reports and feedback are very welcome.
Screenshots
Gameplay: Fears to Fathom - Home Alone (Demo). running at a stable framerate on low-end hardware thanks to Unnative's performance tweaks.

Settings - looks like a lot, but if you're not trying to tweak anything you can completely ignore this screen and just use the defaults.
